The Philadelphia Home Inspector license was enacted in January of 2004 and requires anybody who performs home inspections within the city of Philadelphia to register with the city’s Licenses and Inspections Department and obtain a Business Privilege License & a Philadelphia Home Inspector License. In order to become a licensed Philadelphia home inspector, a Pennsylvania home inspector must provide proof of meeting the criteria set forth by Act 114 (The PA Home Inspector Law) which allows an inspector to lawfully perform home inspections in the state of Pennsylvania. This law was enacted in December of 2001 & applies to all existing PA home inspectors who did not meet the criteria at time of enactment or any inspectors new to the profession from 12/2001 and on.
